Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one component of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which aims to balance energy in the body in order to keep it functional and healthy. Acupuncture stimulates the body to produce its own pain relieving chemicals called endorphins.  The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupuncture stimulates the body’s natural healing abilities. Acupuncture is very effective in treating a variety of painful disorders, both acute and chronic.  It is very often used as an effective adjunct to the following treatments: ART, physiotherapy, massage therapy or chiropractic.

Medical Acupuncture complements modern western medicine with alternative practices by using a combination of anatomical and classical acupuncture points to successfully treat musculoskeletal conditions, such as neck pain, back pain, lower back pain, tennis elbow, and rotator cuff. Needles are inserted into areas that are related to muscles, tendon and nerves. A small electrical device may be attached to one or more of the needles to aid in treatment and improve the effectiveness of the procedure. Stimulation by the needles also functions as a natural analgesic, decreasing pain. Research supports the use of acupuncture treatments to relieve pain through the release of endorphins and to relieve muscle trigger points. At the Core many of our practitioners utilize acupuncture as and effective medical program to treat various conditions and injuries.
